அறம் / பாயிரவியல் / கடவுள் வாழ்த்து

குறள் : 10

பிறவிப் பெருங்கடல் நீந்துவர் நீந்தார்

இறைவன் அடிசேரா தார்.

மணக்குடவர் உரை :

பிறவியாகிய பெரிய கடலை நீந்தியேறுவர், இறைவனது அடியைச் சேர்ந்தவர்; சேராதவ ரதனு ளழுந்துவார்.

மு.வரதராசனார் உரை :

இறைவனுடைய திருவடிகளை பொருந்தி நினைக்கின்றவர் பிறவியாகிய பெரிய கடலைக் கடக்க முடியும். மற்றவர் கடக்க முடியாது.

மு.கருணாநிதி உரை :

வாழ்க்கை எனும் பெருங்கடலை நீந்திக் கடக்க முனைவோர், தலையானவனாக இருப்பவனின் அடி தொடர்ந்து செல்லாவிடில் நீந்த முடியாமல் தவிக்க நேரிடும்.

சாலமன் பாப்பையா உரை :

கடவுளின் திருவடிகளைச் சேர்ந்தவர் பிறவியாகிய பெருங்கடலை நீந்திக் கடப்பர்; மற்றவர் நீந்தவும் மாட்டார்.

ஆங்கில மொழிபெயர்ப்பு :

They swim the sea of births, the ‘Monarch’s’ foot who gain; None others reach

the shore of being’s mighty main.

ஆங்கில உரை :

None can swim the great sea of births but those who are united to the feet of God.

My Remarks and Opinion:

In this Kural, there are two sects of people. One sect, who believe in God, supreme power, leader, guiding spirit. Other sects, who do not believe in that. If there is one couplet that definitely identifies the Thirukural as a Hindu literature with Hinduism thoughts, yes, this is the couplet. Reincarnation, rebirth, and never die spirit is particular to Hinduism only. Islam and Christianity keep the God away, as if a ruler from a distant land who decides and dictates. Their thought process origin same. That, the God created various planets, earth, garden, tree and fruits and then Adam and Eve and prohibited them from eating the fruit from that special tree. The Satan, the evil, induces them to pluck and eat that tree and then ???? Haha… the humanity starts. Islam sees this as a crime and describes set of strict rituals and punishment. Such rituals are compulsory prayers, controls in dress, eating habits, reciting verses from their holi book for anything and everyday acts. In Christianity, the same act of plucking and eating the fruit is considered a sin and the humanity is asked to seek pardon, perpetually and they are guaranteed relief if they truly regret and seek pardon from God. Both religions promise entry into the heaven where eternal pleasure exists.

Though Hinduism begins with God created everything, it is restricted to elementary learnings. Very quickly it promotes people to get into higher learnings of Godliness in everything, including in self and in all living creatures. The fundamental seems, creativity is divinity and feminity is divinity because feminity is creativity. Kids are thought, if you harm an ant in this birth, in another birth, that ant will become human and harm  you. So, please do not harm anything under any circumstances.

Piravi perunkadal Neenthuvar, Neenthaar Iraivan Adi seraadhaar… Technically means, unless and otherwise we surrender to God, we can not escape from various births and rebirths. Mukthi, salvation is not getting another birth. It can also be interpreted as, You can not live a full life unless you are blessed by God. The Atheist Kalaignar used the words, the ‘wise and senior people’ in the place of God. Hinduism accepts Atheism and criticism of God. As such, this interpretation is more apt to modern society than the other ones.
